What attracted me to this series was the artistic connections to Serial Experiments - Lain, which was an outstanding example of what anime is noble of out of genre. What kept me from getting to it when it first came out was that, depending on the review I looked at, it either sounded insensible or was painted as a 'magical girl' account. Now that I've seen this first DVD I can represent that it is neither what I expected nor what the critics reported, but something quite modern.

A young girl finds herself plummeting through the air only to wake up unexpectedly in a irregular bed surrounded by people with wings. She discovers that, like her, each has awoken from a dream to get themselves in the Weak Home with no memory of the past. And like them, she grows wings and acquires a halo. The remainder of these four episodes follow Rakka as she adjusts to her unique like and discovers the world of the Haibane, the Dilapidated Home in which they live, and the town of Glie, which forms their boundaries.

There are countless mysteries. Rakka and her friends like, Kuu, Hikari, Kana and Reku, only know the plot things are, but have no thought how this came to be. Thus the origins of the Haibane (charcoal feathers) and their role are mysteries. They exist within the walls of Glie, where no one, Haibane or normal human is allowed to enter the outside world. Only birds and the masked Toga (traders) can to so, and the Toga may not remark. Amidst this, the Haibane themselves carry on, working in the town and living off its largess with surprising acceptance and a gigantic deal of charm.

And charm is what this series has a surfeit. The Haibane and the townsfolk all seem bounded together in a supportive fashion, which is almost, a model of what most of us would consider of as a perfect community. It doesn't purchase long before the viewer becomes complete enchanted. Not impartial with the anecdote, but the art, acting, and music as well. Despite all the signs that things are not really as they appear you will get yourself hoping that things will go on honest as they are, that the glimmer of light here will prevail.

What the future will bring, I can't say. But I hope we accept add least a few more DVD's of the tranquility and almost Zen-like atmosphere that permeates these first episodes. This is a beautiful tale that unfolds in the pastel shades of some amazing artwork and character manufacture. In any case, I gain you will score the originality of the anecdote and its characters refreshing and worth pursuing.

As an artist I am in like with this series. The world is richly portrayed, and novel in it's blend of asian, european and astounding elements. The memoir is uninteresting to effect but in a noble arrangement, there is a gentle, soft telling of a chronicle here which is rare and current, and the characters and unfolding location are better for it. You can't notice this series without becoming aware of the distinct care and devotion the artists have keep into it.

This is an animation which evolved from a written sage, which evolved from a section of poetry, so maybe there is some literary aspect of it that failed to pick the Amazon reviewer. But don't maintain it, there is a lot going for Haibane Renmei beyond it's artwork.

The narrative, the characters, and the world they live in have depth and heart. It compares favorably to some of anime's gigantic titles, notably "Entertaining Away," "Castle in the Sky," "Lain," and "Key the Metal Idol." If you liked any of these, you will bask in Haibane Renmei. I strongly recommend it.

Let me originate by admitting that although I am an avid animation collector, I never considered myself distinguished of a Teen Titans fan. I appreciated the source material but the bright series was a bit too campy and certainly too anime-heavy.

That said, I took a chance on the complete 4th season on chronicle of the colossal reviews it has been receiving. Having objective completed the season last night, I must screech my uncouth satisfaction to this collection and the series as a whole.

As others have said, the show's producers and writers have found their rhythm! The 4th season relies less upon Japanese-style animation and more on extraordinary plots and character development. The series is stunning evenly mixed between humorous romps and a back-story of Raven facing her destiny. The balance is absolutely perfect between light-hearted adventures and disturbing apocalyptic proper versus unfriendly episodes. Also worth mentioning is the surprising return of Slade with a novel spy and some frigid surprises.

Additionally, the lighter episodes are genuinely silly as opposed to gimmicky. Without giving too mighty away, the episode featuring the alien "the source" (Employee of the Month) had me laughing out loud.

As a long-time DCAU aficionado, I must confess that the 4th season of Teen Titans is so impressive that I've since ordered the earlier seasons to acquire up on what I've been missing.

Hardcore and casual fans of Bruce Timm's Bewitching Batman world should also select up Teen Titans season 4 (as well as 1-3, and 5 if it's out) because the same principle applies. As Bruce Timm and his entire ensamble reimagined and updated Batman stories, that is what Glen Murakami did with the Teen Titans. The episodes range from dramatic and great to droll Scooby Doo and assist again, similar to previous seasons. What stands out about season four, however, is that the season's main place is the show's most story yet.

I care for this series. It's filled with action, romance and drama. Bloom and her friends arrive wait on to school for a recent school year, only to collect out that the witches have excaped (again) and teamed up with with a nefarious sorcerer named Baltor. Can the winx girls halt Baltor and the despicable witches ogle the first few eposides of season 3 section one to regain out! I'm so excitied the next share of season 3 to be released and I'm so looking forward to season 4.

This is one of the best shows, I believe, that shows fun, sweet, fantasy. I esteem it as great as my daughters treasure it. Everytime she gets home from school she does her homework lawful away so she can gaze the Dvd's we have. They are always asking for more DVDs when a hoilday comes up. I assume the series shows romance, friends, adventure, drama, and so grand more as the 5/6 girls go throught their life in the Magix relem. I mediate eventhough the fable is fantacy you can never have enough imagination, this makes you feel like a fairy yourself. You might even wish you were one of the girls!!!

Carla and Turk depart towards the enormous step of marraige, and Dr. Cox has to reach to terms with the reponsibilities of fatherhood. The trademark offbeat humor remains and actually improves over Seasons 1 and 2. Zach Braff, Donald Faison, and Sarah Chalke shine as JD, Turk, and Elliot, but the exact highlight of the note continues to be John C. McGinley's Dr. Perry Cox. Kelso, Jordan, and Carla play their sidekick roles with gusto, each adding their special effect of humor, and of course, Neil Flynn as the fantastically offbeat Janitor.

Season 3 also has more improbable guest stars. Scott Foley (Felicity) reappears as Elliot's savor interest, Sean, Tom Cavanaugh (Ed) returns as JD's brother Dan, Tara Reid( American Pie) has a multi-episode arc as a JD admire interest, Brendan Frasier (Blast from the Past) returns from Season 1, and Freddy Rodriguez(6 Feet Under), Christopher Meloni(Law and Order), Barry Bostwick(Slide City), and Michael J. Fox(Shuffle City) also achieve in sizable appearances. Like Seasons 1 and 2, this DVD situation is a solid winner, with tons of extras honest like in the first two season sets. It's worth every penny. Highly Recommended.

The third DVD of Pegasus series! Another masterpiece of Sailor Moon stories to recognize. I loved newsradio and was over joyed to sight a complete dwelling was being produced. Now however, I wish I had unexcited newsradio season by season as I did with M*A*S*H and other sizable shows. The all in one package basically took all the disks from the five season packages and assign them in a stack, one on top of the other, without so mighty as a fraction of film between them. I was forced to regain a CD book to believe the disc to build them easier to access and prevent scratching. I would suggest you be prepared to do like wise.

There is also no guide book only an episode list on the box. Even for someone like myself who knows all of episodes by heart this is a dilemma. I know the episodes as the Lisa-Dave brake up episode, or the bill shocks himself episode not "Led Zeppelin II". Someone who has only seen each episode a few times will probable be completely lost.

Do yourself a favor, select each seasons individually. The ticket is about the same (if you don't win the fifth season and who needs it. I mean we all know the present was not the same after Phil Hartman died.) and you will salvage better cases, better guides and enormous present. Who could ask for more.

This is a review of the packaging, not the series. The entertainment industry weenies continue to search for how puny value they can give you for the highest possible label. Unfortunately, packaging is the one (the others are double sided disks that catch scratched no matter how carful you are and compressing the expose, to squeeze more on each disk, reducing the quality) . This time they hit a fresh... all time coarse! When you start the box you will pick up a paper thin plastic "plot filler" shrink wrapped (so thin, the wrap bends it all out of shape) with a allotment of cardboard on a spindle. Pry the cardboard up and you will pick up all 12 disks stacked on top of each other. That's it. I really can't account for how cheap this was done. I've thrown away packing materials that were far sterling. I'm definite they would retort that " they want to retain the stamp down so we can afford to prefer it". Since I can catch a thin jewel case retail for about 10 cents, we are talking pennies at the manufacturing level...not wholesale - that cost could realistic be 1 cent. I'd pay 12 cents more to protect my $47 investment.

Bottom line, sterling series, but if you choose this be prepared to provide your hold cases to protect the dvds.

I really enjoyed this DVD and bought it to expose to my 6th grade classroom. They found it consuming and arresting. Nothing too gory and nothing moving (it is Rome, after all!) . The kids weren't bored and I was joyful that it had genuine, up to date footage and right and piquant facts. Well worth purchasing!

LEGEND never really found an audience in theatres despite Ridley Scott and Universal's constant tinkering with the final cleave. Seems many movies of this era were victims of audience test screenings, and the desire to give people a commercial product that went down easy -- sight BRAZIL for a prime example of how studios mediate (the "fancy conquers all" version) . So Anecdote was severely edited and rescored with a speedily (but often effective acquire by TANGERINE DREAM) . It was short on state and long on art direction, but sumptuous visuals and an all-out acting job by Tim Curry and make-up artist Rick Bottin made the movie an easy common of many fantasy fans. The movie looks sparkling, and the epic is a universal tumble into archetypes. Nothing snide with that, it certainly worked for STAR WARS!

This DVD collection gives you two versions of Sage -- the current director's carve with over twenty minutes of added footage and the modern Goldsmith score; and in addition, you find the novel US release. In essence you score two different movies! The moods vary, the characters seem a limited different, with whole fresh speeches and images to devour. If you are a fan of the movie or Ridley Scott it's a MUST-HAVE! This is what DVD dreams are made of. While many bemoan the fact BLADE RUNNER does not reach with its 2 versions -- the fact is other than the narration and the delighted ending, there is not Grand different. But here we have a case where you can observe what happens to a movie as it goes through development HELL. Provocative stuff, and it comes LOADED with extras.

The only downside is the director's slit gets the royal treatment of a 5.1 sound mix while the other version gets a 2 channel Dolby mix, and even the video quality seems different with again the director's nick looking better than the theatrical release. But at last we can search for a widescreen version of either slice, and we regain a lot of extras that justify some of why the movie is the map it ended up. Fine images, two agreeable soundtracks (I like both though the mood changes), and basically strong performances. Fable is a waking dream!

As long as unicorns jog the earth rotten can never afflict the pure of heart, and that is why the prince of Darkness has sent his most foulest goblins out into the very daylight he seeks to kill forever to prick off the horns of the last two remaining. But when Jack (the forest boy, played by a very young Tom Wing) takes Lily (a royal princess, played by the delicate Mia Sara) to notice them, she does the forbidden and touches these frail creatures. Lily soon discovers it was she who unintentionally lured the unicorns into the goblin's trap; enabling them to shoot the poison stinger into one of the "beasts", as they call them, with a distinct belief. She vows to create things good again as the land becomes shrouded in a blanket of snow and tries to protect the last unicorn standing but is too old to defend even herself. She then is captured, along with the unicorn, and taken benefit to the gargantuan tree where the horrible approach to sacrifice. There the prince of Darkness yearns for a companion and tries to acquire Lily one of them by tempting her with jewels and power while Jack and his modern friends Gump, a jealous sprite and some other nymphs, way a thought to attach Lily, the unicorn, and the world before it's covered in eternal shadow.

Legend wasn't too well received in theaters and was not a celebrated among most critics but it has quick become a cult classic with fantasy lovers like me. Considering the uncouth budget director Ridley Scott was given in order to beget this film in the mid-80s, I belief they did a improbable job in bringing William Hjortsberg's shaded fairytale to life, which was written specifically for the veil. I also felt the entire cast effect on considerable performances - especially Tim Curry who went through hell (pun intended) to ogle as devilish as he does here...

Within this two-disc plot is two versions of the film. One is the director's slash, as it was intended to be seen, and the other is the U.S. theatrical version, which I personally steal, as do many others apparently. There are many extended scenes in the director's chop that were taken out of the U.S. release to desirable down the overall running time but I felt the U.S. version simply flowed better. It also features a more dramatic pick up by Jerry Goldsmith instead of the more emotional salvage by Tangerine Dream and doesn't include the closing credits song "Is Your Treasure Strong Enough? " by Brian Ferry, ending the movie on a more magical heed. But aloof, it was nice to notice both versions and to compare the two. There's also a lot of bonus materials in the tiny edition of Tale that many fans will be very grateful for.

Entertaining, suspenseful and with a advantageous apt, The Plucky Exiguous Toaster works on many different levels for children. It's well made and written. This actually isn't a Disney production but an independent production company. The production obtain and spend of colors will captivate your child's attention. Additionally, the conflicts and some of the suspenseful situations mirror experiences that runt ones have in their day to day experience.

My only complaint is that the sequels produced aren't up to the high quality of the first film. While the third film in the series (but second produced) The Heroic Dinky Toaster Goes To Mars is very cessation in quality to the first film, the second film suffers from a lower budget and is missing the imaginative direction of the first film.

As to the viewer who mentioned that there were images defective for younger children--honestly, my kids can't operate the end button and never noticed the "image". It isn't immoral or subversive and I acquire it doesn't do the overall quality of this comely children's film. The cliche about not being able to observe the woods for the tree applies to children's movies as well. While all movies have something we may not like (and books or toys for that matter), it's the overall values communicated not a single image (and your interpretation of it) that makes or breaks a child's video.

The Plucky Slight Toaster doesn't have any hidden agendas and is perfect entertainment for cramped ones and adults can glimpse it with them to elaborate the legend as it goes along if distinguished.

This was one of my son's approved exciting movies to observe when he was young. He's now 13 and when it was on TV recently, he sat down to scrutinize it again with his itsy-bitsy brother who is 2 1/2 years ancient. It's a appetizing, sometimes gloomy, and a runt scary, chronicle of several appliances who reach to life and try to rep home to their master, a young man named Acquire.

A very cute runt Movie NOT made by Disney although Hyperion pictures would eventually be acquired by Disney. The movie was based on a memoir by distinguished sci-fi and Dread author Thomas M. Disch who gives us a recent day story. The screech actors, particularly Lovitz and Ravenscroft are outstanding and the animation is quite profitable considering it was done in the 1980's when studios were not spending a colossal deal on quality animation.

This would be followed up by two sequels: The Valorous Cramped Toaster Goes to Mars and The Doughty Slight Toaster to the rescue. Neither sequel managed to engage the charm of the new although most of the cast (minus Lovitz and Hartman) would return for both films.

A minor classic!

The films in this collection are not exactly classics and do not compare with Delon's best works such as "Le Samourai" and "Mr. Klein". However, if you are a die-hard Delon fan, you will not be disappointed. Mostly average, some are better than others. 1) "Swimming Pool". If you are a fan of Romy Schneider, you will not be disappointed. She simply radiates. The position moves terribly slowly. It's a venerable rehash of the "Purple Noon". 2) "Diabolically Yours". Comical and outdated. Senta Burger, then favorite Germain actress, is not in the same league as Romy Schneider. 3) "Widow Courderc". This is kindly. Almost classic. The film is aesthetic to peer at with its natural setting. Noble period details. Sizable acting abounds. Simone Signoret gives thoughtful, heart-breaking performance. If the ending was not so ridiculous, it would have been a classic. 4) "Gipsy". An average crime drama. so called B-film. 5) "Notre Histore". This is an appealing turn for Delon. He is actually more expressive than usual and shows a wider emotional range here. But overall this stylized film is rather listless to sit through.

3 excelent movies, 2 ok,the widow couderc,la piscine and le gitan are the best.the others very listless in my concept.

Don't Go is gross and totally extraordinary and its elephantine of unbridled histrionics, but luckily Penelope Cruz's impassioned performance as an unglamorous, multi-ethnic refuge living in Italy saves the day in this awkward and structurally uneven melodrama. This film is all about men and how they cheat on women, and how women are the victims of men and how men kill up getting what they want no matter what the cost to women.

Sergio Castellito - also the movie's director - plays wealthy doctor Timoteo. Life seems reliable as he has a decorous marriage to the loving Elsa (Claudia Gerini), a brittle, ridiculously attractive clotheshorse and a thriving career. One afternoon, on the contrivance to a medical conference, his car breaks down, so he enlists the serve of Italia (Cruz), a trashy hotel cleaner.

Their relationship begins on a dreadfully violent imprint - he brutally rapes her, treating her as an hasten valve for his worst fantasies of dominance. The sex is also remarkably devoid of titillation, with the most depraved scene coming about half plan through the film where Italia and Timoteo have rain-soaked and grubby sex in the wait on of a filthy dim alley - she even gets to retain her red shoes on.

By then the film has sort of ancient out it's welcome, and most viewers will probably be tired of all the morbid and somewhat misogynistic histrionics being played out. The spot with this film is Timoteo doesn't imbue considerable sympathy with the viewer - as an Italian version of a male chauvinist pig, who is perfectly comfortable with being somewhat violent towards women and dogs, and compared to what becomes of Italia, he gets off quite lightly.

Castellito does solid work as the meticulous doctor who spends most of the movie behaving like a jerk and Cruz definitely select the prove as Italia. She gives an earthy, rounded and totally vulnerable performance complete with blowsy makeup, crummy teeth, too-tight skirts, and wild hair -- but she gets you to feel for her character and even understand what makes her tick.

The movie as a whole is unbiased so unfocused and dramatically strained, and the memoir is all over the status. Also, the inclusion of western pop music at obvious moments doesn't fit with the epic and it's horrible to gape how Italia would cling to a man so willing to abuse her - yes, there is a reason she's like this, but that doesn't accomplish it any more realistic that she would let it happen.

Indeed, there are some considerable emotional moments that work well, but for most of the movie you feel like you're being manipulated by blatant and contrived melodramatics. Mike Leonard July 06.

"Don't Depart" is an Italian film starring Penelope Cruz ('Vanilla Sky') who is doing what other actresses (Juliette Binoche in 'Cache') have done. After scoring great as an American actress in American films, she returns to her Italian-roots to be in an Italian film. "Don't Proceed" is an piquant film, it's told out of chronological order. The movie is centered around a grief, while the main characer flashes wait on. The main character, by the plot, is Timoteo (played by the director Sergio Castellitto) . The movie opens with a resplendent shot of rain falling, when we gape a young girl being raced into a hospital after apparently having an accident. A few moments later, a nurse walks up to Timoteo (who's a doctor) and tells him that it's his daughter Angela. Flashing backwards, we gaze Timoteo breaking down in a puny italian town and meeting Italia (Cruz) . After going assist to her house with her, Timoteo rapes her...It's not a vicious rape scene, it's actually fine tame. It doesn't even really explore like rape. Rest assured, this is far from Monica Bellucci in "Irreversible." Well, Timoteo returns to his life and proposes to his girlfriend...But eventually returns to Italia to residence things right; But then he continues having an affair with her. I mediate the ending is kind of predictable, you know which design the romance is heading throughout the entire thing but I don't consider the writers gave a damn whether you knew that or not. This movie has some attractive scenes and fine dialogue, which probably wouldn't work in an American film. Director Castellitto is a gifted director that is also a fantastic actor, he really puts his heart into his performance. As for Cruz, she's gargantuan too. She gives an Oscar suited performance but, oddly enough, she looks like crap. I don't know if they didn't let her wear makeup or impartial achieve too powerful on. I mean she really looks dreadful in this movie. If you judge Penelope Cruz is hot, don't gawk this movie because it might destroy your idea of her. Also, if you're renting this movie merely for sex scenes (the cloak strongly implies that there are some) this isn't your movie. There's several sex scenes, but there's dinky nudity in this film. The only nudity is shown during hospital scenes. But, if you're into foreign films that are wonderfully done and have amazing acting. Then check this movie out.

What's it about? A Japanese high school girl group has a falling out with their lead singer about an incident that injures one of the other girls. There are distress feelings all around. So the remaining girls determine to swap instruments and draft the local misfit (the stunningly talented super-model-turned actress Du-na Bae) Korean girl to deliver lead.

Nothing turns out quite like you'd seek information from. There are wonderous minute moments all tied together with the tour-de-force-of-nature that is Bae. The smaller characters are well defined, and you salvage a accurate sense of this world.

Captures the feeling of giddiness/stress that is performance better than virutally any movie I've seen in years. Do you worship punk music? Do you admire movies about misfits? Do you like films about finding your beget dwelling? THEN Bustle and score this film. A genuine stunner.

Japanese indie film "Linda Linda Linda" follows the anecdote of four high school girls who need to learn to play the songs of the Blue Hearts, 80s Japanese punk rock band, for the annual school festival. They got only three days to practice, and the vocal happens to be an international student from Korea. But can they master the songs and play them in front of the audiences?

The epic is simple. As two girls recently left the group, three remaining members of the band Kyoko (Aki Maeda, "Battle Royale"), Kei (Yu Kashii) and Nozomi (Shiori Sekine) have to net a vocalist for the unusual band. They recruit a frightened Korean exchange student Son (Du-na Bae, "The Host"), who, as it turns out, shows unexpected side of her character as she keeps practicing.

[SLOW-MOVING BUT TOUCHING] First, support this in mind before watching "Linda Linda Linda" of which mood is something different from such films as, say, "School of Rock" or "Hard Day's Night" (both my accepted films) . The catchy Blue Hearts songs are improbable and the rock concert scenes are tubby of energy, but the greatness of director Nobuhiro Yamashita is that he not only succeeded in expressing the youthful energy of high school girls, but also cleverly suggesting that the girls are leaving slow their younger days though they themselves are not aware of it.

To fully delight in "Linda Linda Linda," please remember these things. Annual high school festivals (usually called "bunka-sai" in Japanese) are usually held in autumn and the girls are in the third (and last) year of high school. That means this is their final chance to join in the bunka-sai of their school. Son will go help to her country and most probably they will not play together again. Yamashita inserts several episodes or images that imply the festival (or the sweet, glad days of youth) is going to be over soon - the images of deserted schoolyard or one of the girl's ex-boyfriend leaving the town, for instance. Only grown-ups around the girls know this fact (listen carefully the words from the teacher), but the girls themselves do not seem to realize this, or even if they do, they don't understand the meaning of it ... until long after their youth is past.

The film deftly captures the atmosphere of high school festivals in Japan. I can issue you the authenticity of each scene of the film because I was once a high school student there. So great time and efforts are place into "bunka-sai": classrooms are turned into shops selling noodles, ice cream stand, rock music club or "alarmed house." It is precious moment of life, which becomes fragment of bitter-sweet memories of youth only after you realize you have left it tedious forever.

The acting is uniformly immense, especially the colorful performance from Du-na Bae as Son, who is to be seen in "The Host," a 2006 mega-hit in South Korea. In fact she might be a bit too former to play the role Son (Du-na Bae was about 25 years-old at the time of shooting), but her spontaneous and captivating performance makes us forget that. The film is also benefited from the authentic place as it was shot in the precise, now disused building of Maebashi Industrial High School in Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture, which had recently moved to another state.

"Linda Linda Linda" uses a slightly downbeat advance in telling the myth, avoiding the cliched residence devices. It is sometimes slow-moving, but in provocative slowly, it shows a realistic portrait of high school life in Japan. Wherever you are, you will behold it is an funny and touching film that captures the essence of youth.

the action film is carried to a rather bright obscene with THE LAST BOY SCOUT, a movie that pushes the world-weary detective stereotype to current, surreal levels. Joe Hallenbeck (Bruce Willis), is a shamus hired by his best friend to protect a stripper who is subsequently killed. her washed-up football playing boyfriend (Damon Wayans) hooks up with Joe to secure out whodunit and why. Willis' performance and Black's screenplay combine to manufacture a portrait of a guy who is so down and out that our first peruse of him is a shot of him passed out in his hold car while being harassed by snotty neighbourhood kids. throughout the whole film, Willis delivers deadpanned one-liners while constantly getting the crap kicked out him. BOY SCOUT is a guilty pleasure. it is mindless, formulaic, and particularly hateful towards women (and men as well) in spots with an uncompromisingly un-PC attitude that is very current in this day and age... and very amusing. action films don't salvage any nastier than this one.

Tony Scott's THE LAST BOY SCOUT may be trash, but for an action flick it is very well-made, highly though-provoking trash.

Of course, you could form a very well-behaved case against this film. Though I did not catch it quite as woman-hating as some of the critics said it was upon the film's release, I would scrutinize that there is a subtle layer of misogyny throughout the movie---particularly with the two women characters in Joe Hallenbeck's life, his uncaring, cheating wife and his bratty, verbally abusive daughter---that might compose some viewers more queasy than I was. And, objectively speaking, THE LAST BOY SCOUT is basically a retread of writer Shane Black's helpful LETHAL WEAPON---a more foul-mouthed, ultra-violent retread with a lot of corny humor. This is an all-out testosterone-fest if I've ever seen one. If you've got a dilemma with people, unprejudiced punch 'em in the "head or gut"---if anything else, that's the message of this movie. Really, Shane Gloomy, where did your taste go since LETHAL WEAPON and LETHAL WEAPON 2?

Despite all that, though, this movie smooth delivers what matters most in this genre: thrills and involving action scenes. Having seen this movie only recently, I must say that it is probably one of the most intriguing action pictures I've seen in a long while, perhaps palatable because of its excesses. Tony Scott definitely knows how to film action scenes well (the climactic action scenes in the football stadium is a proper example of his skill here), and of course he brings his extinct slick style to the material. And its spot, interesting a ruthless attempt to legalize gambling in pro football, takes some kinda tantalizing twists and turns along the blueprint. (It's like a hardcore action-film version of one of those hardboiled detective films of the '40s.)

In short, THE LAST BOY SCOUT is very trashy but peaceful gripping action movie that can be quite fun to notice, depending on whether you can overlook lapses of character logic (why on Earth is Shelly Marcone giving away his thought of framing Hallenbeck for Senator Baynad's assassinate unbiased so Hallenbeck can outsmart 'em all? ) as well as the more objectionable misogynistic aspects of the film. Personally, I felt a slight guilty about enjoying it so mighty...but not guilty enough not to admit it. Marginally recommended.

Peter Jackson's directorial debut, "Dreadful Taste," is a hilariously wonderful time moving a whole lot of blood, guts, brains, the chugging of vomit and tons of laughs. Done in the accurate slapstick-horror fashion, this is a disgusting and pleasantly demented flick that refuses to retract itself seriously. It's over-the-top in every intention, and that's what makes it so fun to witness. It's not recommended for people with old stomachs, but people looking for carnage and laughs will feel just at home with this.

It doesn't have the most scientific or complex status, but why should it? It involves aliens from another planet that are disguised as humans--acting more like zombies, but they proceed a lot faster and are handy with automatic weapons. The aliens are here for one thing only... hamburger meat--made from humans! They have already completely massacred an entire town and notion to do the same to the rest of the world! Now, it's up to a couple of goofball assassins to attach humanity and acquire these extra-terrestrial psychos head on... God attend us all!

This was everything I was hoping it would be. It's completely over-the-top, ridiculous and a dependable gross-out event. What more could you want? This isn't a movie where you're looking for quick-witted acting or directing. You impartial want to indulge in yourself. The movie is purposely goofy, as it is never shy to accomplish fun of itself in many ways. The best device I can record this is it's "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" meets "The Sinful Insensible." It's not scary, but since it is slapstick-horror it doesn't really need to be. Considering how obscene of a budget Jackson and company had, it has some heavenly cold and disgusting special effects. I could never fabricate something like this, that mighty is for clear.

As I said in the beginning, it's not recommended for people with aged stomachs. The characterize and sound is as grand as it can gather (the sound is the valid prize, allowing you to hear all the squishy-squishy joy of blood and brains splattering all over the set!) . Special features include the theatrical trailer and a making-of documentary.

"Unpleasant Taste" is for anyone who has a sick and curved sense of humor, and who is in the mood for something extremely goofy. I contemplate Peter Jackson should revisit the genera again in the advance future, as he really shines in it with this movie. I'm certain he has a lot of fun with it, too. Again, not recommended for the conventional, but if you're looking for all the blood and guts you can handle while laughing at the same time, it's all proper here. At one point, one of our heroes, Derek, falls off a cliff and splits his head wide begin - the rest of the time he has to wear either a hat or belt on his head to support his brains in! Exploding sheep, aliens eating brains and vomit, 'The Boys' killing everything in status and a starship in the size of customary house - this film has it all and twice over. All done with more than a hint of humour, this extremely black-comedy, blood drenched from beginning to waste will originate you laugh hysterically and feel a bit grossed out at the on-screen point to. Directed with passion, made over four years' worth of weekends with a bunch of friends and virtually no-budget, this cult classic is vital viewing for all fear fans, especially those who indulge in cheesy humour. If you like 'Evil Insensible 2' and the Monty Python films, you'll like this - inspect it now!

I won't extinguish time with complimenting or insulting this movie. I esteem it...objective not as grand as the origional. What really bothered me was the absence of several scenes. I kept having the comic feeling that I was missing something (I hadn't seen the movie in 10 years) and then it dawned on me. After the credits we seek "Airplane III" and then it shows William Shatner say, "That's impartial what they'll be expecting us to do.". I had scene this snippet in a scene years ago when I watched Airplane II.

I then realized that some very comical stuff had been left out of the movie. The origional or even TV version had several more scenes that were simply deleted in the DVD version. I'm guessing maybe 10 to 15 minutes are missing. I can't even inaugurate to comprehend why these scenes were deleted. We're obviously not stupefied about time constraints on a DVD.

I am very disappointed with this version simply because of the deleted material. I really savor this movie, but would have enjoyed it a lot more had the whole movie been included. Perhaps they should sell it with a warning stating that you're not receiving what you query.

Okay, we all know this isn't the best sequel out there but it has its moments. However I obtain it Extreme that this version is missing many scenes that are shown on TV. (Simon in elope pod, Sonny Bono's reason for being on the flight, The Sarge explaining potential bomb wound, Striker reading 'Modern Electronics', the list goes on!) Why leave out scenes on a DVD is beyond me.

When I watched this as a young man of 20 I fell in worship with it. It is not an action film. It is a delicate epic of deep characters as they bag themselves having become feeble. It is a fable of reclaiming yourself, even at the demolish of your days.

It is one of the last films of Bette Davis and Vincent Trace. They gave handsome performances that I collected care for. I have waited a long time for this to reach on DVD!! One of my well-liked quotes is from Bette Davis. She was told by her sister that "Memories proceed with time." Bette, portraying her blind sister, proudly proclaims in her best Bette Davisness - "That has not been my experience!"

Great transfer and a substantial film. Lillian Gish's performance is a mountainous insight for those who haven't reached their later years. She is wise and comely, firm yet dazzling in her dealings with those around her and, especially, her difficult sister (Bette Davis) . The record is of two sisters who have lived long and chubby lives now dealing with the realities of their advanced years and the remembrances of their long ago childhood spent in the very house on Cape Cod where Ms. Gish now lives. The dynamics between Gish and Davis reflects very trusty people. It is at times very tender and at times very tense. Yes, sisters yet very different human beings.

Vincent Impress plays the older version of the allotment he played in 'Lauara.' He plays the steady lady's man who has fallen on hard times, former around the edges but one who can level-headed charm the ladies.

The scenery is comely. In fact, you can inspect it for only the visuals. When this film is over one will not easily forget its impact and beauty. A keeper!

This was Gregory Peck's second starring role (the first being "Days of Glory", which was not well received) and it earned him a Best Actor Oscar nomination; he is incredible in the portion, and other mountainous performances arrive from Thomas Mitchell as Dr. Willie Tullock, Rose Stradner as Sister Maria-Veronica, Benson Fong as Joseph, and Roddy McDowall as the young Francis.

Sensitive direction by John Stahl and music by Alfred Newman complete this film, which is satisfying viewing, and a must for Peck fans.

being 60 years old-fashioned, the quality of the film shows a petite age, but does not engage away from the beauty of it. Total running time is 137 minutes.

This is a film that will be remembered for a lifetime. Gregory Peck gives us the ingredients for living life in a very rewarding device. We don't need material things to have a life that is fat. His receipe was simple but good: selflessness, humility, strong faith in God, patience, determination, kindness, and above all admire. He was able to forgive those who tried to develop him feel less than he was, and he always saw the suited in those who tormented him. I would discover this movie, and demonstrate it to others, over and over again. It is a masterpiece. It is one of the few movies that gives people a role model without violence.

OK, I've had enough with Warner deciding whether cartoons from the past are honorable for us or not. First they edited the Tom and Jerry releases and kept several shorts from being released at all, then they started labeling cartoon collections with this: "This collection is intended for the Adult Collector and MAY not be salubrious for children." This collection and the others in the series says this: Saturday Morning Cartoons - the 1960s is intended for the Adult Collector and is NOT salubrious for children." What? Seeing a pig without pants is poor for kids? Atom Ant may perform them judge they have clean powers and they could die jumping off a building? Give me a wreck, Warners. I'd powerful rather my children peep this than the stuff that's on TV today.

This year's Spotlight Collection is a viable alternative to the Golden Collection volume 5, and a lot cheaper too. This area has the very best of the fifth Golden Collection, namely the Bugs/Daffy disc and the Fairy Tales disc. These are the only discs you need from this year's Golden Collection unless you are a Bob Clampett fan, a fan of the 70s and 80s TV specials, or like the really, really old-fashioned, badly dated cartoons from the 30s and early 40s.

I am clear that I am one of many who are incredibly furious about the upcoming release of these sparkling Busby Berkeley musicals! Each of these films hold many of the expansive screen's most unforgettable moments, and all five merit inclusion in this attractive DVD package.

For fans of musicals and for those who simply bask in trustworthy cinema, these movies have it all! First and foremost, the artistry of Berkeley's musical sequences get these films a must-see! It doesn't matter if you are a musical maven or not. The inimitable Busby Berkeley production numbers will dazzle you, even with the sound turned down! In addition to being distinguished musicals, these films are also some of the wittiest comedies from the 30's era. I don't mediate anybody can resist the well-written like a flash dialogue and sly innuendo, particularly from the pre-code releases included here.

FOOTLIGHT PARADE -- Sizable pre-code dialogue, and a extraordinary showcase for the comedic talents of both Joan Blondell and James Cagney, the latter demonstrating his astonishing footwork that helped him gather his Oscar winning role in Yankee Doodle Dandy!

GOLD DIGGERS OF 1933 -- My personal common of this collection. it features the notorious Ginger Rogers number "We're In The Money", and the unforgettable "Forgotten Man" performed by Joan Blondell! Astronomical production numbers and more inspiring pre-code comedy.

DAMES -- In addition to the gigantic production number of the title song, it features an hilarious performance by Hugh Herbert, probably (though debatably) his best!

GOLD DIGGERS OF 1935 -- This one introduces the grand production number, "The Lullaby Of Broadway" and also features a spacious comedic performance from Gloria Stuart (of "Enormous" fame) .

42nd STREET -- This is the film that reinvented the movie musical! Nuff said, except that Ginger Rogers' chaffing is a amazing highlight.

The extras behold nice, though I'm sorry no commentaries seem to be included. I'm looking forward to seeing the modern featurettes. All in all, this is a very reasonably priced package that is worth every penny. Devour!
BUSBY BERKELEY COLLECTION

While I was elated that Warners & Turner have issued these tremendous films on DVD at last in terrific quality (for the most fraction) and with fantastic extras, there were some opportunities missed here and one glaring omission which I hope I can situation honest.

The opportunities lost anguish the archive material that might have been included and which would have been so worth the anxiety to procure. As most Berkeley buffs know, he gave a very engrossing and rare interview for a 1966 TV documentary called "The Movie Crazy Years" (about Warners) which also included a nice interview with Joan Blondell. It would have been valid to notice the relevant excerpts from this ample programme (which I assume was made by David Wolper) included in the various featurettes on these DVDs, rather than the endless gushy on-camera posturings of the likes of John Landis. Do I really need to be told over and over in hyper-gushy language, that Buzz was a genius, by so-called celebrity fans? I really wish Turner would at least include either contemporary witnesses or film historians (like Bob Thomas or Rudy Behlmer) to add pertinent commentary to projects like this. WHAT has John Waters got to do with Busby Berkeley I ask you?

The second "missed opportunity" is the rarely (and barely) seen 96 shrimp documentary "Busby Berkeley" made by Russ Jones in 1974 to co-incide with the publication of Tony Thomas' expedient biography of Buzz, which included rare interviews with Winifred Shaw (about the Lullaby of Broadway number) and Ruth Donnelly (about Footlight Parade) among other treasures.

Surely Turner could have acquired both of these archive resources (at exiguous cost!) for this definitive DVD dwelling? It would have added such gigantic historic value to the collection and good insight. I really felt we never got to know considerable about Berkeley as a man from any of the short documentaries or how he achieved his astonishing effects. In fact, I realised that I knew more about him and his techniques, than I learned from any of the featurettes.

Much worse though, is the total absence of any comment about Ray Heindorf, the genius arranger and orchestrator at Warners, from 1931 on, who was responsible for the entire musical style of these films and especially the grand job he turned in for the astronomical numbers - creating seamless 10-15 limited arrangements of Harry Warren's vast songs (and those of Kahal & Fain - they wrote `By A Waterfall' by the arrangement, not that you would know it from watching the short documentary on Footlight Parade!!) .

Heindorf was also responsible for the marvellous, brassy orchestrations throughout - yet he never even gets a mention. He was a genius - in fact, according to Erich Wolfgang Korngold, (as told me by Eleanor Aller & Harry Warren himself) he was the best and fastest orchestrator Korngold had ever encountered, high praise indeed from maybe the one man in Hollywod who would know - and it was Heindorf's ability to provide an endlessly varied treatment of each song that allowed Berkeley to accumulate away with making a number lasting a quarter of an hour without we, the viewer (and listener) ever getting bored with the tune!

Well, in spite of these shortcomings, it is amazing to have these at last in better than average prints (and in the case of 42nd Street, wonderful prints!) and of course, the historic trailers & shorts are all marvellous to have at last, rescued from the vaults.

However, I hope next time Turner puts out a major collection, somebody will grasp the concern to effect a tribute to Ray Heindorf. It's long overdue.

The Hittites were a Bronze Age Empire from what is current day Turkey. Noteworthy of what archeologists know about the Hittites comes from clay tablets found in their capital. The two-hour DVD tells the account of the Hittites in chronological order and was narrated by Jeremy Irons. The redramatizations were ample in showing what clothes, armor, equipment and cities looked like. They also added a historical flavor to this anecdote of this once lost traditional civilization. Jeremy Irons does a masterful job telling about the rise and descend of the Hittites and their 500-year reign over Anatolia. I especially liked where Jeremy Irons correctly pronounces the Hittite kings names like Muwatalish, Mursilis and Suppiluliumas. I conception the battle of Qadesh could have been better explained with more detail and a better explanation about the neighbors of the Hittites. But that would've meant a three or four hour DVD...too dreadful! Over all I gave this documentary four stars because this is the perfect historical narrative for beginners like me, who aren't classically educated and haven't spent half our lives digging up faded cities. A must hold for history buffs like me.

The documentary is a melange of historian interviews, chronicle voice-over and re-enactment. The re-enactment was a bit jarring because of the long hair on the men (I guess I expected closely cropped hair, I'm not obvious why), and the sparse area dressing, but I'm objective jaded from watching HBO's Rome too many times. I can't comment on the accuracy because I'm ignorant about the Hittites (that's why I watched the DVD), but I obtain the bronze age inspiring in general, and it seems in keeping with what I have read from The Cambridge Mature History Volume 2, Piece 2: The Middle East and the Aegean State, c.1380-1000 BC,

I do admit I might only give it three stars without the melliflous narration of Jeremy Irons, gently pronouncing these jawcracker names. There seems to be some dissimilarity on how to snarl the names, and the written invent (from the Cambridge Outmoded History) lists them as having -ash at the slay. Hattushilli is Khattushilash, for example, so it produce it confusing.

I quite enjoyed this DVD, and have watched it several times. It has surprising production values compare to many shows on the History Channel, and seems to have been promoted by the Turkish government - if so, first-rate for them. Turkey is a deep well of history.

DRAGON TALES: THE ADVENTURES IN DRAGON LAND comes to us from the creators of "Sesame Street". Featuring all of your favorate Dragon pals, (Emmy, Max, Zak & Wheezie, Ord and Quetzal among others.) Needless to say, this is really for the very young, I'd say about 2-4 yr olds. Personally I can't say that I'm a fan of the animation, but as a teaching video for itsy-bitsy children, it beats Barney any day of the week. And the lessons taught are necessary and easily presented for the age group. This DVD also includes a chubby frame transfer, English and Spanish 2.0 stereo tracks and 3 whisper along with Dragon Tales songs, definite to keeps your kids in song for days.

My 2 1/2 year faded daughter had never seen dragontails before we purchased this DVD and now she can't glean enough of it. It is played once a day atleast. This DVD is about Sharing. Very suitable lessons for any child.

This documentary was originally created and broadcast by the BBC and then NOVA purchased it for U.S. Public Television. However, NOVA slice about 14 minutes of footage to include plugs for other NOVA programs. I am hoping this DVD release will establish that time attend.

This program traces the scientific evolution of the search for absolute zero, from the 17th century through today. It is extremely well done. Like many such programs, it takes high notion science (in this case physics) and brings it to the people. There are reenactments, interviews with experts in the field, and historical footage. The rivalries between past scientists, and the repercussions of such, are frankly examined. The creators did a valid job making the topic approachable without condescending to a non-scientist audience. For the first time, I was able to engage such concepts as the Bose-Einstein Condensate, absolute zero and how lasers can "cold" atoms. I work at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, where Eric Cornell did his Nobel Prize-winning work (at Jilla) . He is featured in the documentary and easily expresses in layman's terms the ideas and methods his team old-fashioned. There is some humor throughout the fraction (including how he forgot to bow to the king while accepting his Nobel Prize!) to lighten the subject matter. Honest recently NIST hosted a lecture with Russell Donnelly, the physicist who helped spearhead this documentary. He worked in frigid temperature physics, and was asked for input to the book "Absolute Zero and the Conquest of Wintry." When he looked through the book he was dismayed to recognize no graphs, or photos or any "science." But once he started reading, he was amazed at how the author told the legend of the science through the lives of the scientistis. He realized it would manufacture a gigantic documentary that could come out to the public - whose relieve helps hold funding for such endeavors. He also spoke about the extensive process of requesting a grant from NSF, working with the BBC and then NOVA to place this together. He showed footage from the documetary itself and I was amazed at the quality. Unfortunately, when NOVA broadcast the exhibit in January it went up against the Novel Hampshire significant and then the American Idol premier. Yet, it composed managed to diagram millions of viewers. I am blissful they are releasing it on DVD. I would care for to rewatch it, and have the ability to rewind sure points that I may have missed.

Overall, I highly recommend this program to everyone. It would be a large tool for high school science teachers, for fans of Carl Sagan's "Cosmos," and of The National Geographic Channel and other such venues.

Having watched this program on TV with fascination, I could not wait long enough to win the DVD. When it arrived, watching it confirmed my thought that this is one of the most stimulating programs ever. Sterling to study again, and again, and with a gap, even again!

hard to fill but a truth. i couldnt first beget, america the world's superpower has such problems. i belief america unruffled needs changes. changes in terms of living and waging; this is a vast movie which aims to bring the change, and it should. so this movie is to be watched by everybody and be evaluated.

Conservatives promote that mess about "Work hard and all your economic problems will recede!" This documentary focuses on four individuals who are working unpleasant. They assign in an objective day's work and consume money on their families, but unruffled have problems making ends meet. This work exemplified how low-income people "win two steps forward and one step wait on." It was a struggle to peek this as life seems so unfair for this group.

It spoke of how many families are headed toward poverty because non-custodial fathers are not paying child serve. It showed how a salary raise can lead to chopped governmental benefits which leaves families in a worse collect status. It showed how a lack of health insurance can eat away a family's money when they have to pay for medicine out of pocket. It showed how credit cards can swallow needy families up. There were no repo men here, and maybe there should have been. You can't not pay services and companies without them coming after you at some point.

The work never speaks the terms "the feminization of poverty" or "the infantilization of poverty." However, while the man who is interviewed seemed like he was surviving and could one day thrive, things unprejudiced seemed to bag worse and worse for the single mothers with children. I was able to peep the man's chronicle with no problems, but hearing about the women with children was very distressing to me.

The work interviews individuals on the two coasts. The East Skim and California are expensive! I don't want to render invisible the scrape of the rural terrible. However, I wonder if these low-income people and their families would have faired better in the South or Midwest. The man interviewed had children in North Carolina. Maybe if he moved there and got an agricultural job or another blue-collar job, he wouldn't have suffered as mighty as he did in mucho-pricey San Francisco. There's also the yell of weight. Two of the interviewees were Enormous. Stress can cause weight fetch. Collected, I wonder if unsympathetic viewers would seize that the two exercise too remarkable on unhealthy foods.

This work could be old-fashioned as a cautionary narrative for youth who want to descend out of school. One boss tells a worker, "If only you were a right nurse, you could produce gracious money." I imagine that these four didn't have college educations. A college degree extinct to be special, but now it's practically becoming mandatory. Blue-collar jobs are drying up in the US, so young folk gotta try to catch those degrees! They could learn from the suited people showcased here.
